Do this first

Before harvesting the whole field, inspect one plant’s stage and check how that crop supplies seeds. A food harvest and a seed reserve are two separate goals.

Evidence boundary. Stage and seed-route background comes from an older Agriculture page. Exact 42.21 yield, regrowth, drying and extraction requirements need crop-specific current-game verification.

Decide what you need from this row

If you need food immediately, a usable harvest action may be enough. If you need the next planting, check the seed route before clearing every ready tile. Preserve a seed reserve independently of the food supply. An empty seed box after a large harvest can become the next emergency even when the pantry looks healthy.

Record the exact stage text instead of converting it to a Build 41 stage number. The older Build 42 Agriculture page describes a blooming harvest for many crops, but also crops with extraction or drying routes. That is a reason to check the crop, not a rule that every mature-looking plant returns loose seeds.

Use one plant as the harvest check

  1. Inspect the plant, record the stage and note whether the harvest action is available. Compare the crop’s own information with your client patch.
  2. Harvest one tile rather than the whole field. Examine what went into your inventory: food, loose seeds or an item that has a further processing action.
  3. Search the current crafting menu for the exact item’s seed or processing recipe if no loose seed appeared. Read its knowledge and tool requirements.
  4. Check how many usable seed items you now hold. Do not infer a seed yield from the amount of food until you have checked that crop’s behavior.
  5. Only then decide how much of the remaining field to harvest. Keep enough observations to recognize the next ready stage.

If there is no harvest action

A plant’s appearance is not proof that its current stage can be harvested. Inspect it and record the stage label. Check whether you are clicking the crop’s tile, whether the character can reach it and whether the action has an unavailable tooltip. A missing action and an available action that gets interrupted require different checks.

Do not advance an entire field based on a growth duration from another crop or patch. Return after a documented amount of game time and record the new stage. On a server, clarify how world time progressed while you were away. This creates a useful timeline without claiming a universal harvest timer.

Food, seeds and regrowth

After a successful single-tile harvest, inspect the tile again. Record what remains instead of assuming the plant vanished or will regrow. Likewise, read the processing recipe before consuming your last harvested example. The seed plan should come from the item and recipe behavior you observed, not from a promise that every Build 42 crop is renewable in the same way.

Original checking steps are editorial recommendations. This site has not run a game test or inspected a local 42.21 installation. Source review and page update dates describe different work.
