Do this first

Use the current water reading and minimum for the same living crop, in the same units. When a numeric minimum is unavailable, keep it unknown instead of borrowing a different crop’s value.

Evidence boundary. No crop-specific thresholds, health-loss formulas or watering doses are supplied. General inspection and watering context comes from older wiki background.

Two readings, one crop

A full watering can describes your supply. It does not describe the plant. Inspect the living plot and record the water information available to your character. If the interface exposes a minimum, copy it exactly and keep its unit beside the current reading. If the interface only gives a qualitative label, retain that label rather than inventing a percentage.

The crop triage tool can compare two numeric readings you supply. For example, a current reading of 40 and a supplied minimum of 65 produces a difference of 25. This is an arithmetic example, not a requirement for cabbage or any other crop. It is also not a recommendation to pour 25 units or click a watering action a particular number of times.

For a living plot below its stated requirement

  1. Record the crop, stage and game time before acting. Keep the original values so you can see what changed.
  2. Use the plot’s watering action with an appropriate water container. Read the action options in your version.
  3. Inspect again and confirm that the reading changed. An interrupted action is not proof the plant was watered.
  4. Check your stored supply before expanding the field. Plan a refill route you can use when there is no rain.
  5. Revisit the same plot at a recorded game-time interval. If it declines while water remains suitable, collect its other warnings rather than repeating watering indefinitely.

Why yesterday’s rain is not a diagnosis

Weather is context, not a measurement of every tile. Compare the watered plot with the next one instead of assuming all plants have equal water. When you were away, you may have missed a change in weather, plant state or world time. Your inspection now records only the current state.

A current reading at or above the supplied minimum removes one observed shortfall. It does not prove that water was always adequate, exclude disease, establish a good sowing season or explain a neighboring dead tile. Keep those questions separate. The triage result deliberately stays inconclusive when all you have is a normal reading.

If the plot is already dead

Do not turn a low water reading into a claim that dryness caused its death. Save the last live inspection and compare the failed plot with survivors of the same crop and planting date. Use a small next planting with documented water checks to test the suspected problem. Reconstructing an undocumented field history is less reliable than making the next batch observable.
